Top Global News
Cambodia prepares for historic genocide verdict in trial over the China-backed Khmer Rouge regime that killed millions. See story.

Top U.S. News
Arizona illegal immigration law comes after years of frustration. See story.

Top California News
Governor Schwarzenegger claims that repealing AB 32, the global warming law, would be “devastating.” (Given that AB 32 will have absolutely no impact at all on global warming due to larger environmental and economic forces, one wonders how its repeal can be “devastating” to anything except the Governor’s outsize ego.)  See story.

  1. Cambodia: It amazes me that America sacrificed some 50,000 American lives to defend South Vietnam against an invasion of pinko-panzi-commie reds from the North. All the while a mass genocide of some 11 million people was occurring just next door (Cambodia) and America simply ignored it. Today we are seeing something similar. A two front war in Afghanistan and Iraq that America will once again lose. And a humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan (civil war in Darfur) that once again, America ignores. As a libertarian I believe that America should be laissez faire in world events however if we are to sacrifice human lives then let it be for a good cause.

Arizona: California needs to follow Arizona’s lead. Take the City of Bell (Los Angeles) for example. With a population of about 90% illegal aliens and anchor babies the Bell city council was able to pass a city charter into law. A charter that allows the city to over-ride state laws for compensation of city offic9ials. This resulted in exorbitant compensation packages for elected and directly employed city officials. Bell is a prime example of what happens when illegal aliens take over. Bell has become a mini Mexico with all the glory of corruption. I am sure Bell isn’t the only city in California where this is happening.

California: AB32 is not about climate change and saving the planet. It is just another plan to rape the tax payer and grow CA government even more. As usual the public sector unions are relentless in growing their base. The solution is very simple – campaign finance reform. Limit campaign contributions to individuals only, say about $1000 and outlaw all gifts of any kind between contributor and candidate. A lobbyist would even be forbidden to cover the cost of a tip while having dinner with a candidate. All meetings with elected officials regardless of number of attendees would by law be a Brown Act meeting and such violations would subject official and lobbyist to severe criminal and civil penalties. With such campaign finance reform the unions would no longer have a stranglehold on state government and new labor contracts could be scaled back to something reasonable. That is how to get the public sector unions out of government and reducing the size of government.
